During the Somerset Celebration of Entrepreneurship we welcome Entrepreneurs from across Australia, who have made an impact not only nationally but around the world.
This year, in conjunction with Advance Queensland and Mark Sowerby, the Queensland Government’s Chief Entrepreneur, Somerset College is conducting its inaugural Celebration of Entrepreneurship. This festival will deliver a program which supports the growth of entrepreneurial skills amongst students.
Alongside Mark Sowerby, several other world celebrated entrepreneurs will attend the Festival and impart their wealth of knowledge to the students. The students will be able to hear firsthand stories of both successes and failures when taking the step into the business industry. In addition, select entrepreneurs will offer workshops to students to foster the entrepreneurial mindset.
The initiative will provide students with the knowledge, networks and hands-on experience to help them launch their own enterprises both now and in the future. We are very excited about bringing this exciting opportunity to the Somerset College community.
The Festival will occur 10 to 11 October 2017 and will involve many Somerset College Year 10 students operating business stalls to sell their products to the wider community. In addition, tickets to the event will be offered complimentary to those schools visiting the Festival.
The Somerset Alumni Association will also play an active role at the Festival by way of sponsorship of the Alumni Stage, thus allowing past students to share their success. Members of the Alumni will also offer workshops which will enable students to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Existing social enterprise partners of the College, including Mudgeeraba Special School, Guide Dogs Queensland, Rize Up, Still Waters and The Salvation Army will also be represented at the Festival to share stories and opportunities in the growing area of Social Entrepreneurship.
