This year’s annual netball contest for the Wallas-Bassingthwaighte Cup was held at All Saints Anglican School in front of a well supported Somerset crowd.

The game was well contested for the first half with scores fairly even going into the half time break.

With a lot of encouragement from the sidelines and a never say die attitude the girls took the court determined as ever.

Our team defence was relentless and upset All Saints attack forcing them into numerous turnovers and missed shots. Our teamwork on attack was outstanding to watch with Madizen Wilkins and Ali Harris driving hard to keep possession and giving great ball in to the circle.

With numerous intercepts, Erin Crough-Heaton, Kirsty Brodbeck and Sara Dann gave it their all in the fight to bring the cup home and were rewarded for their efforts with the ever so accurate shooting of Rylee Burns and Natalie Blauberg.

The team started to gain momentum and never looked like being defeated. Each player gave it their all, right to the end and celebrated in style with a very satisfying 42-21 win.

Congratulations girls, what a fantastic game. Your determination, hard work, attitude and teamwork did you proud!
