All Saints Anglican School and Somerset College Senior netball teams kicked off their first encounter of the APS season on Friday, competing for the inaugural Wallas-Bassingthwaighte Cup.

The cup is named after the Headmasters of All Saints Anglican School and Somerset College, kindly donated by the Somerset Alumni Association in recognition of the ongoing, tough battle between the two schools top Netball teams.

With a good crowd turning out in support of our girls, the game didn’t disappoint. Scores were tight throughout the match with both teams taking turns at leading the game. With only minutes to go, the experience of All Saints shone through with the opposition winning the match, 37-33.

We look forward to the ongoing battle with All Saints in Netball, and we are sure our girls will be striving hard to have the new silverware on our shelves in the future.

A huge thank you to the Somerset Alumni Association for donating the Wallas-Bassingthwaighte Cup and for providing post game refreshments.
