Some excellent results from our Spartans despite a very small Athletics Team. With limited numbers participating due to school camps, illness, and exams the athletes who turned up really performed above and beyond, making for a fantastic day!
12yrs and under Team – 1st place
Intermediate (13 to 15yrs) – 2nd place
Senior (16yrs+) – 2nd place (Very close to 1st!)
12yrs and Under
A wonderful team effort saw the 12yrs and under win many of the events and take out the Title of the inaugural Athletics Invitational Event. A fun and exciting day was had by all. The event was a fast-paced team event where each athlete won points relative to their place in each event.
Stand out winning (1st place) performances from:
Jackson Smith 100m (13.5sec); Sophie Colahan 200m (30.3sec); Sam Carson 200m (28.8sec) & Long Jump (3.97m); Isabel Chudzinski Long Jump (4.05m); Aaron McQuaid Shot Put (8.86m); 4x200m Relay Team – Isabel Chudzinski, Sophie Colahan, Aden Webber, Jackson Smith.
Intermediates
The Intermediates were literally put together at the last minute with many students coming back from camp too worn out or injured. The athletes who managed to turn up performed together beautifully and still managed a second place overall.
Standout winning (1st place) performances from:
Ryan Hisco 400m (55.7sec); Aspen Anderson 1km (3.01min); Luke Shirley Javelin (41.21m) and the 2x2x400m Relay – Jake Giltrap-Good & aspen Anderson.
Seniors
The Senior Team with only three boys and four girls competing, the smallest team of the day, had a slow start however stormed home winning the last 5 events in a row to almost snatch the Title at the very end, only missing the win by a few points.
Standout winning (1st place) performances from:
Felix Jackson-King 60m (6.9sec), Long Jump (7.13m) & High Jump (1.80m); Britney Ingr 400m (1.01min); Kade Reynoldson 400m (53.0sec); Sophie Clements Long Jump (5.36m); Swedish Relay – Lucy Twigg, Britney Ingr, Felix Jackson-King, Kade Reynoldson.
I would also like to say a big thank you our Coaches and Officials – Jenny Wood, Kate Grigg, Harry McMaster and Glauber Scattolini for being so flexible on the day and helping the students and the competition run so smoothly.
Congratulations to all our Spartans for competing so well on the day and filling in the gaps when required, even when it wasn’t their preferred event, to help each other out. The students are already talking about going back and winning all three divisions next year!
