Sustainability is about meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Students at Somerset College have the resources and access through the Sustainable Spartans Committee to follow their passions and interests in how to make our planet healthier and more sustainable for future generations.
Our campus offers opportunities to trial and test sustainable practices ranging from creek and wildlife regeneration projects, renewable energy implementation, waste management and recycling strategies and designing educational awareness programmes. We see all year levels participating from the munch and crunch worm farms of Pre-Prep to the entrepreneurial projects of Senior School; ultimately our community is inspired to do better and influence society as passionate and engaged global leaders in this field. As a College, we are committed to installing solar panels and sustainable features, where possible, in all our new buildings.
