Throughout Term Three we have had many students from Somerset College competing in local eisteddfods in voice, instrumental music, speech and drama and dance. Our junior choirs, band, orchestras and Year 4 band have enjoyed having the opportunity to perform for our wider community upon the HOTA stage at the recent Gold Coast Eisteddfod.
Such performance opportunities aim to foster a sense of encouragement and enthusiasm in students, as they are provided with opportunities to receive feedback by highlight qualified adjudicators. Eisteddfods allow young performers to build their confidence and independence as they prepare works to perform for new audiences.
I have been delighted to hear from students who have competed individually in recent exams and eisteddfods. They can be very proud of their efforts as they strive to improve their knowledge and skills in music, dance and drama.
We wish all the students who are performing this weekend at the Somerset Festival of Young Performers the best of luck – we are so lucky to have such an amazing performance opportunity at our doorstep!
