The Football Gold Coast Aldi Miniroos competition played Round 10 last weekend. Read on for a few match reports.
The U6s put in a valiant effort but came up short in the end 8-3.
Somerset Under 7 Blue VS Robina Orange What a massive victory for Somerset this weekend, with a massive score of 14 to 3. Robina tried very hard to block the Spartans and defend but our team was on fire. Mayuko scored a hat trick in the second half. Nothing could stop that girl.
Mayuko 4, Abhiveer 4, Jesse 3, Hamish 3, also bagging player of the week for being a terrific all-rounder. The victory would not have been possible without Emily and Liam passing the ball at the right time. Well done Under 7 Blue.
Under 7 Greens played against Robina Yellow at Robina’s home Common ground. Again, they had huge success! Coach Kydra instructed the players of their position rotating through the game. Knox, Jakub & Dylan all getting some outstanding goals. All the players understood their position and role, resulting in a strategy that worked very well and brought home a Win for our boys. Under 7 Greens won 4 v 1. Brayden earning the Player of the Week, with a very solid effort the whole game! Well done boys on a deserved win
Boys played extremely well in the game on 12/09/2020. Somerset U7 White secured a victory against Robina Green in the away game with a final score 6:5. Sion and Franklin both scored two goals. Louise and Oliver scored one goals each. Ruben, who had a solid defence and passing during the game, got the certificate of best player. It is also a reward for him to play a hat trick in the game last week.
Under 7 Orange played away against Robina Blue for round 10 of the series, the Spartans winning 5 to 2. Hunter scored the five goals earning a well-deserved player of the match.
It was all for one and one for all in what Coach Mark summed up as the under 8 Green team’s best game and win of the year so far Vs Nerang on Saturday morning. The home team opened their account first with a straight scoring goal through a maze of Somerset defence which only served to awake the Spartans into a combined, controlled team effort of premium positional play, passing, defence & attack. Ollie a deserved player of the match scoring multiple goals with both left and right feet, was backed up strongly by Max hitting the back of the net, Thomas, Izaak and Will strong in defence, Vaughan & Sehaj relentless covering both ends of the pitch and Edward giving the team full support from the sideline resting up a soon to be recovered striking foot . As the referee's whistle blew to end the day's play, the winning Green team’s 4 to 1 goal score line was a fitting result for such a great team effort.
This week we played an away game against Ormeau FC. The goal scoring was opened by Ormeau but Nash was able to strike back quickly securing his first goal of 6 for the game. Due to his amazing goal scoring and strong play throughout the game Nash was the worthy recipient of Player of the Week. Well Done Nash. Our boys showed great passing skills and crosses during the game and are really coming together well as a team. Jacob, Magnus and Josh continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Great talking amongst our boys on field resulting in great passes and fast forward play. Great persistence from Jacob and focus to score our 5th goal and an amazing solo run by Nicholas who held possession resulting in a goal - well deserved boys. Magnus, Josh & Jacob also supported defensively clearing the ball to prevent Ormeau from scoring. Our goalie Dash tried so hard as always to save all goals flying. Mark, Magnus’s dad had a cameo on the field chasing a stray ball and assisting Bailey at the same time. Nice play Mark. Our goals scorers were Nash (6), Bailey (3), Jacob (1), Daniel (2), Nicholas (1), Thanks must also go to Mark, Magnus’s dad for the end of game BBQ he set up for the boys. They really appreciated it and the sausages went down a treat at the end of the game. A really big thanks as always to Coach Daniel for leading our boys to a 14-5 win.
