Last Friday the College hosted its annual Somerset College Awards Night. Our Somerset College Cheerleaders welcomed the 280 guests into the sports themed and decorated Great Hall in what turn out to be a great evening with plenty of students recognised for all their hard work.

Bianca Crisp took out the The Sara Carrigan trophy as she has achieved an elite level of performance in her sporting discipline. Bianca competed at the Australian Open Water Championships in Adelaide. She achieved fifth place in the open 10km event, first place in her age group in the 5km event. Bianca also competed at the Australian Open Water Championships held at Brighton Beach placing fifth in the Open Women’s 10km event and first in the 17/18 Women’s 5km event. Bianca is a more than deserving recipient of The Sara Carrigan Trophy.
Sarah Hossy was awarded the Staff Cup for her contribution to Softball. She took over the reins of Open Girls Softball in 2016 and there has been considerable improvements in the players and structure of the program. The trainings are well organised, quality relationships are being formed and the students are happy when the smiling Miss Hossy is instructing and teaching. Congratulations to Sarah Hossy and she is a worthy winner.
Ryan McClure was awarded the Karlsson Cup for his contribution to the development of sport within the College during the year. The trophy is given for commitment, spirit, dedication and citizenship which he demonstrated in a number of different sports and disciplines.
The College also recognised its most outstanding all-round athletes by awarding the Sportsperson of the Year to a boy and girl in senior, intermediate and junior age divisions.
