In the lead up to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Year 2s created artwork to adorn walls of rooms in the Games Village. A Northern Ireland competitor posted a message of thanks, and Briana Leon now in Year 3, replied.
"_Somerset College, the P6 pupils from Andrews Memorial Primary School in Comber, say: 'Thank you for your beautiful artwork in the athletes' rooms at the Commonwealth Games Village! Year 2 Briana Leon, this was hanging in my room, and I loved looking at the bright colours for the three amazing weeks we had on the Gold Coast. _
My name is Julia and I am the physiotherapist with Team NI. From Australia to Northern Ireland with love."
Briana replied:
"_Dear P6 at Andrews Memorial Primary School & Julia Webster, _
_Thank you for appreciating my indigenous artwork that I created last year in Year 2. I am so glad that it made it all the way to Northern Ireland and to your classroom. Also, thank you Julia Webster for coming to the Gold Coast. We hope you enjoyed your visit with the Northern Ireland Team! _
From Briana Leon and 3B at Somerset College."
