There was huge excitement on October 25 at 7.45am as Year 3 Students departed from Sara Carrigan Court for camp. We headed to Tyalgum Ridge Retreat which took us an hour and thirty minutes to get there. Our stay would be for three days and two nights with eight activities to complete during this time.
We arrived at 10.30am (NSW time) and we all pulled the suitcases off the bus. From there we grabbed a quite bite to eat (a piece of fruit) and burn off some energy by running around the field. We also spotted two ponies who were excited to see us! From there we went to the hall where Mr Boston introduced us to Matthew who ran the activities. He told us about Tyalgum Ridge Retreat and then handed over to Mr Boston for the moment we were all waiting for… our cabin groups! After we found out who we were staying with, we headed to our rooms with our suitcases and unpacked, ready for our first activity. Two of the best activities we did that day was the Waterfall Hike followed by the Creek Watch. The scenery was magical and made the place beautiful to explore.
On the first night after the two activities we had dinner and got ready for the Year 3 Talent Show. All of the participants were trying their best by performing dances, magic shows and poems. All students enjoyed the performance and that was definitely a night to remember!
On the second day, we started our morning by waking up at 5.00am (QLD time). We all got dressed and packed our backpack for our four activities for the day. These included the Flying Fox, Catapult, Kayaking and Farmyard visit. By the end of the day we were so tired but we still had another surprise to come! The Wildlife Twins came to show us some native animals and how these animals protect themselves in the wild. They we great speakers and the show was very entertaining. We even got to see a baby wombat! After the show we crashed into our beds and got a good night sleep before the last day.
We woke up on the last morning to a full breakfast and our last two activities before we jumped on the bus and headed home. We had the best time on camp and we can’t wait to do it again next year.
