Aboriginal Band is a song about Aboriginal justice. The Year 5s recently finished our PYP Exhibition, where we picked a problem in the world and researched it extensively.
I chose Aboriginal justice as my topic. The Thursday before PYP Exhibition I wrote a song called Aboriginal Band. That day I was thinking about Aborigines a lot and I didn’t know where to put the emotion I felt. I’ve always known the best way to express myself is to write songs and sing. Knowing that, I jumped on the piano and put my soul into a heartfelt song.
This song is not only for Aborigines but it’s to spread awareness as well. It’s what I would call my apology on behalf of Australia. I am passionate about rights and I completely despise inequality. I am deeply committed to equal rights for Indigenous Australians. Let’s support the Indigenous together. Let’s strive for the Aboriginal Band.
