There was no better way to conclude Term Three at Somerset than with the 2021 Celebration of Entrepreneurship! Over the past two days, students from Pre-Prep to Year 12 were immersed in the entrepreneurial mindset.
It was such an amazing opportunity to be able to connect and ask questions of current successful world-celebrated entrepreneurs and hear their first-hand stories on successes and failures when taking on the business industry. Sessions included, Somerset Alumni Kicking Entrepreneurship Goals, SheEO – Women in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship in Film and Television. Somerset also had its very own E-Sports Precinct, so there really was something to interest everyone.
Somerset’s Entrepreneur in Residence, Baden U’Ren facilitated the Cordner Advisory Pitch Competition; an amazing opportunity for budding entrepreneurs. Three Somerset young entrepreneurs, Savannah Walker (Year 7), Heath Walker (Year 9) and Lilliana Swainson (Year 12), also joined Ten Cent Tom to share their stories of entrepreneurial success.
The entertainment at the festival did not disappoint either. There was so many highlights including the extraordinary performances at Purple Faces in the Towers Quad, to Year 11 and 12 International Baccalaureate students’ OrangeSky Sudsy Challenge water dump and the amazing Synergies Creative Minds Exhibition showcasing Somerset’s aspiring artists, engineers, film makers and media experts. The Year 9 Business stalls and Kidpreneur Stalls were also a hit showcasing Somerset students’ amazing skills in not only business but in cooking and baking too!
It was an amazing two days of entrepreneurship and business!
